LAUNCHING THE FRIENDS AND COMPANION CONGREGATIONS OF CTI

6/1/2009

The Center's Director, William Storrar, is shown here with Sr. Tina Latina, launching the Friends of CTI in support of the Center's work. Sister Tina, a teacher and counselor from the Villa Victoria Convent in Trenton, NJ,  has been a longstanding supporter of the Center's mission. She is grateful that our resident scholars "help us to love the Lord more", as she put it during a recent visit to Luce Hall. She has also set a wonderful example by encouraging her own friends to join her in supporting our work as regular annual donors. The Center is therefore proud to name Sr. Tina as the 'First Friend of CTI', because of her sacrificial and generous financial support and faithful prayers for our scholars and their work. You can learn more about becoming a Friend or Companion Congregation and join Sr. Tina as a donor by going to the 'Support CTI' button on this website. In a recent visit to Texas, the Director, Dr. Storrar also had the pleasure of meeting with the Rev. Richard Kannwischer, Senior Pastor of the 3,000 member First Presbyterian Church, San Antonio, to launch the Center's Companion Congregations in support of our distinctive ecumenical mission of advanced scholarship for the benefit of the church. Pastor Kannwischer presented the Center with a check for $1,000 from his church, making it our 'First Companion Congregation'. He hopes that other pastors and congregations in all denominations will follow First Presbyterian's lead. Their pioneering support reflects this downtown city church's commitment to a thinking faith as an essential part of its own mission: 'renewing minds and redeeming lives with the steadfast love of Jesus Christ.' For more information on how to join with Richard's church and become a Companion Congregation of CTI, please go to the 'Support CTI' button on this website now.
